Abundance 4 20x20.jpg

Now Available at Made in the Maritimes

Abundance 4 20"x20" (shown) and Abundance 5 24"x20"

In this series, dive beneath the surface of the ocean to explore the peaceful, yet vibrant, world that exists within the coral reef at night. When the sun goes down the coral, itself, wakes up and is the epicentre of a rich synergetic ecosystem. A world replete with life and abundance.

In these underwater abstract pieces, fluidity and movement are shown in a rich vibrant palette set against the deepest indigo blue. If you look closely, you may see lionfish, shellfish, and other creatures who live within the depths. Each piece has a super high gloss resin finish.

This work is painted on cradled birch. Painting continues around edges. This painting has been professionally finished, and is ready to hang on your wall.

"Achieving a more sustainable future requires tackling climate change, improving the health of the world’s oceans, and transforming the way we produce, transport and use energy. The interconnected world that we live in requires us to work with international partners to develop truly global solutions. Canada and its G7 partners recognize the urgent need to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable, resilient, low carbon future.

Read the G7 public engagement paper on Working together on climate change, oceans and clean energy to learn more about the transition to a sustainable future."

Artist Statement:

Finding Depth

Why do I paint the ocean? I was asking the question repeatedly.

The answer came to me out of the blue, while painting deep water. It felt familiar. As though I knew it all along, and had only forgotten it for a while.

The answer is this: The process of painting ocean makes me joyful and calm. Centered. Like meditation. Like therapy. Making art for art sake is the purpose. It is deep, yet so simple.

"Smell the sea and feel the sky,
let your soul and spirit fly,
into the mystic"
-Van Morrison

Bermuda Society of Arts Spring Member's Show May 4-29

Update: These works are still available from the gallery. Please contact Gallery Director, Nzingha Ming.

I am very pleased to be exhibiting with BSoA for their Spring Member's Show. This group show runs from May 4-29th. If you are in Bermuda please stop by to see the show.

I was lucky enough to call Bermuda home for a number of years. My family has very strong ties to the island. My time spent living in a Bermudian cottage on a hill overlooking the sea still shapes my art to this day.

Four shiny mixed media works are included in the show. Each one features a different aerial view of the Bermudian coastline, and includes real purified Bermuda pink sand. Two have waves and two are calm and quiet, like the one pictured here,"And Still I Believe".
